6. June 2011 - Today Astaro Corporation, a leading Unified Threat Management provider, received the IT Security Certificate according to Common Criteria (ISO 15408) with the testing rigour EAL4+ by the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI). The certificate with the identification number BSI-DSZ-CC-0696-2011 applies to the product Astaro Security Gateway V8 Packet Filter Version 1.000 / secunet wall 2 packet filter version 1.000, which has been developed by Astaro and secunet in a technological partnership.
The Astaro Security Gateway V8 Packet Filter / secunet wall 2 packet filter is the firewall component of the UTM security solutions Astaro Security Gateway V8 and secunet wall 2. The certification is based on the Common Criteria version 3.1 for the security level EAL4+ and was accompanied by the accredited testing laboratory SRC Security Research & Consulting GmbH situated in Bonn.
The highest internationally, mutually recognized certification level EAL4 + requires in addition to an inspection of the development environment by the BSI also close scrutiny of the complete source code by independent experts. The IT Security Certificate therefore warrants to customers that security requirements created by Astaro are properly implemented and that the processes used in this case meet recognized standards.
"We are very pleased that Astaro received this demanding and internationally recognized certificate. It shows once more that security and future technologies need not to be mutually exclusive," says Jan Hichert, founder and CEO of Astaro. With the certification of the product Astaro Security Gateway V8 Packet Filter it is world’s first complete IPv6 packet filtering functionality of a UTM security solution that has been officially accredited and approved.
