Novell File Management Suite is a solution to the universal customer need to control growing data storage costs and chaos.   Novell File Management Suite lets an organization intelligently manage its files for maximum business benefit, based on identity-driven policies.   Designed to work on multiple platforms, Novell File Management Suite can enhance existing storage management solutions or be deployed alone to introduce advanced data management capabilities to almost any file system environment.  With Novell File Management Suite, customers can:

• Understand data better - By getting a handle on the unstructured data in their environment, organizations can get a clear picture of what is being stored, where, and who owns it, allowing the organization to comply with regulatory or industry policies.

• Automate repetitive tasks - Many administrators spend hours a day performing repetitive tasks by moving, copying, provisioning and de-provisioning information for users.  Policy-driven automation of these tasks ensures immediate and consistent results which allows organizations to meet compliance requirements.  Administrators freed from these tasks can instead work on strategic IT projects of more value to the organization.

• Unlock hidden value - Organizational knowledge can be better identified, accessed, leveraged, and stored when file storage is tied to user identities.  After all, files are stored because they represent value to an organization, but that value is derived by who uses the file, not by the device on which it resides.

For existing Novell NetWare or Novell Open Enterprise Server customers, Novell File Management Suite offers additional value.  File Management provides advanced storage management capabilities to the Novell Storage Services file system, for which limited third-party products have previously been available.  It also offers advanced data migration functionality for customers making the move from NetWare to Open Enterprise Server on SUSE Linux Enterprise.

Novell File Management Suite consists of three products, designed to be deployed together for maximum business benefit.

• Novell Storage Manager
• Novell Dynamic File Services
• Novell File Reporter

Novell Storage Manager and Novell File Reporter can each be purchased separately.  Additionally, partners may sell a time-constrained File Reporter Assessment to introduce a customer to the benefits of file management.
