 Long Term Service Pack Support (LTSS) for SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 SP1 extends the benefits offered through a SUSE Linux Enterprise Server subscription by providing critical security updates for existing workloads after the end of support for SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 SP1 for up to three additional years.   

With LTSS, customers will continue to receive L1 and L2 support from SUSE, which enables them to receive proactive updates and fixes for critical security issues as well as updates and fixes for critical bug fixes.  

LTSS for SUSE Linux Enterprise 11 SP1 also entitles customers to receive technical support for all L3 supported packages, including individual bug fixes. 

This offering enables customers to continue to receive support for their current SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 SP1 workloads without making changes to their long-running systems, thereby reducing the risks and costs associated with system changes, and operating an unsupported environment. 

Licensing
 Long Term Service Pack Support is licensed per architecture and per codestream/service pack of SUSE Linux Enterprise Server per year.

Part Description Updates for Sentinel-Related Accessory Part Numbers 
Novell is pleased to announce an update for part description for Sentinel-Related Accessory to all customers worldwide.

 With the release of Sentinel 7, the version numbers in the part descriptions for the Sentinel-related accessories such as Smart Plug-ins, Collector Types, and Exploit Detection & Advisor Subscription will be removed since these accessories function with various versions of Sentinel including: Sentinel 6.1, Sentinel 7 and Sentinel Rapid Deployment. The goal of removing the version numbers is to clarify the accessories' compatibility with various version of Sentinel, thus reducing partner and customer confusion.

As an example, the part description “Sentinel 6.1 Smart Plug-ins” will drop the version number and become “Sentinel Smart Plug-ins”. The remaining accessory part number descriptions will be modified in the same fashion.

   Subscription Management Tool (SMT)
The Subscription Management Tool for SUSE Linux Enterprise (SMT) establishes a proxy system with repository and registration targets. This helps centrally manage software updates locally within the firewall on a per system basis, while maintaining corporate security policies and regulatory compliance. SMT allows for the automated tracking of SUSE Linux Enterprise subscription entitlements providing an easier and more accurate process. Through its integration with the SUSE web-based customer portal, NCC, SMT ensures that each device can receive its appropriate updates without the need to open the firewall, and without any redundant bandwidth requirements. This update to SMT will include improvements to repository handling, a patch-access API used by third-party integrators, and support for de-duplicating package copies via hardlinks. Extended Support Lengthened for Novell NetWare 6.5 and Novell ZENworks 7 Suite
Novell is pleased to announce that Extended Support for Novell NetWare 6.5 and Novell ZENworks 7 Suite has been lengthened by a year, to 30 September 2013. In addition, Novell BorderManager and Novell GroupWise 8 are extending General Support, and will be supported on NetWare 6.5 for the same time period.

For the best value for our customers, Novell encourages upgrades to the latest release of Novell Open Enterprise Server and Novell ZENworks Configuraiton Management, but is offering Extended Support on these older releases to provide more deployment time for customers who need it.

The Extended Support phase of Novell's Product Support Lifecycle offers installation and configuration technical support and critical security fixes for customers with current maintenance on the replacement products - in this case Novell Open Enterprise Server 2 and Novell ZENworks Configuration Management 11.

Free Unlimited Extended Support on ZENworks 7 Suite
Current Novell Open Enterprise Server maintenance customers already realize free, unlimited 12x5 technical support during the Extended Support phase for NetWare. Effective 1 January 2012, Novell is offering this same free, unilmited 12x5 technical support benefit on ZENworks 7 Suite for all customers with current maintenance on Novell's ZENworks Configuration Management.
