Avira's IT security has been certified by TÜV

Avira's 'made in Germany' virus protection has once again managed to convince the Technical Control Association (TÜV), one of the most rigorous test institutions, that it delivers excellent quality. TÜV Saarland has been examining the performance of security software regularly since 2004. With the same continuity, Avira have obtained the much-sought-after TÜV seal of approval for the 100 percent detection of all "in the wild" viruses!

Discontinuation: Products and product versions

Avira has discontinued a series of products and product versions. These discontinuations affect Avira SmallBusiness Suite Mixed, this is no longer available and support will end on 31 May 2010. Avira AntiVir SAVAPI 2 has also been discontinued and support will end on 30 September 2009. This product will be replaced by Avira AntiVir SAVAPI 3, which is already available. The Avira Partner Clearswift will discontinue the support of their product MIMEsweeper for Web, version 5.2 and all prior versions on 16 December 2009. Avira will discontinue the support for the product Avira AntiVir MIMEsweeper (for Clearswift MIMEsweeper for Web) on 16 December 2010. Product release: Information about our Q3 Release

The Avira product release in September will include new versions of the Avira AntiVir MailGate/Suite, Avira AntiVir WebGate/Suite, Avira AntiVir ISA-Server and Avira AntiVir SharePoint.

MailGate/Suite will provide the customer more statistical information than before, which can be used for individual external reporting. Templates will be provided that allow you to analyze data via Excel or OpenOffice.

WebGate/Suite will offer improved detection of phishing, spam, malware and fraudster's URLs as well as the ability to prevent time-outs by adjusting trickling rates for domains and file types. The integration of URLs on a black or white list is built in.

The Avira AntiVir ISA Server will provide an enhanced time-out behavior the same as an extra update for engine, VDF and the product itself. The restructure of the architecture allowed an increase in the performance and improved stability of the product.

Avira AntiVir SharePoint will offer extra updates for the engine, VDF and product in the new version.

HIPS Technology: Beta version since 13 May 2009

The first version of Avira HIPS is now available in beta version since 13 May under the name Avira AntiVir ProAktiv. A beta test of this new proactive detection technology will be started with a special version of Avira AntiVir Personal, in which HIPS will be integrated. Approximately 2,500 users have been admitted for beta testing. The focus of the test is currently on the system's stability, performance and behavior. The focus on detection will be at a later point in time. However, it is already possible to detect a whole series of yet unknown malware at this early stage. The beta test will take until the end of 2009. It is planned to provide Avira AntiVir ProAktiv in the Q1-2010 product release.

Support: New product update with product enhancements

The product update of 9 June 2009 has some product enhancements! The following version numbers indicate the latest versions.

Avira AntiVir Professional: 9.0.0.725
Avira AntiVir Server: 9.0.0.1657
Avira AntiVir Premium: 9.0.0.441
Avira AntiVir Premium Security Suite: 9.0.0.376

You can download and install the new versions on the Professional, Premium and Suite by going to "Update --> Start product update". You can also start a product update in AntiVir Server 9 through the interface on the server in the context menu at "Start product update".

Support Forum available in French

The Support Forum is now available in French! Customers from the French speaking territories of Avira AntiVir Personal, Avira AntiVir Premium, Avira Premium Security Suite, Avira Mobile or Avira Tool can now use the free help platform to solve technical questions. Please consider that the forum is moderated by the participants of the forum and Avira principally administers the forum. You should accept and observe the user rules.
