Product Information
The  SUSE Linux Enterprise Consolidation Suite for System z is a special bundle, tailored for all customers who want to consolidate workloads from distributed environments (x86 and/or Unix) onto incremental new IFLs on IBM System z.
It is available in two flavors; one is dedicated to IBM System z Business Class (BC) machines and the other one is dedicated to IBM System z Enterprise Class (EC) machines.

In order to provide our customers with maximum flexibility, Novell offers both flavors, the BC and the EC, either as Basic subscriptions or alternatively as Priority subscriptions. While the Basic subscriptions are meant to be combined with IBM GTS support services, the Priority subscriptions provide 24x7 support services directly from Novell Technical Services.

SUSE Linux Enterprise Consolidation Suite for System z BC

include:

  • SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for System z, 2 IFLs, 3 year subscription

  • 2 user accesses to the Novell On-Demand Training “Data Center Library”

  • 2x VUE Test Voucher for free exam

  • 2x Mono Tools for Visual Studio Professional license

  • SUSE Linux Enterprise Mono Extension for System z, 2 IFL, 3 year subscription

  • Plus the option to grow the SUSE Linux Enterprise Server subscription to a maximum of 4 IFLs total, during the 3 year subscription period and at no additional cost. In order to make use of this benefit, it is required to activate such “on-demand” IFL subscription(s) via the separate activation code, which is also shipped with the bundle.

SUSE Linux Enterprise Consolidation Suite for System z EC

include:

  • SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for System z, 4 IFLs, 3 year subscription
  • 2 user accesses to the Novell On-Demand Training “Data Center Library”
  • 2x VUE Test Voucher for free exam
  • 2x Mono Tools for Visual Studio Professional license
  • SUSE Linux Enterprise Mono Extension for System z, 2 IFL, 3 year subscription

The key target workloads for consolidation to System z are Web Servers, Web Application Servers and Development Environments. The Mono .NET runtime environment provides a perfect platform for consolidation of .NET applications, such as e.g. .asp applications, onto System z. But also the Mono Tools for Visual Studio now allow the customers for the first time to keep on developing .NET code in their x86 based development environments, but being directly able to test and deploy it on Mono on System z.

Finally the SUSE Linux Enterprise Consolidation Suite for System z is rounded out by the access to Novell's On-Demand Training “Data Center Library”, which holds over 15 different online training courses. This allows the customer to get his IT-staff up-to-speed whenever time allows, at own pace and without further investments. Finally the VUE training voucher gives the customer the flexibility to decide when and where to take the final certification exam.<//span>
