Correction to NPA 6446-6448 - ZENworks 10 Configuration Management Support Pack 3
Novell announces a correction to NPA 6446-6448 announcing the availability of Support Pack 3 for ZENworks 10 Configuration Management, ZENworks 10 Asset Management, and ZENworks 10 Patch Management to all customers worldwide.  Changes were made to the First Customer Ship date, the licensing model for ZENworks Patch Management and the version number of ZENworks 10 Configuration Manager.

This product release, known as ZENworks 10 Configuration Management SP3 (10.3), is available for download both for new product installations as well as a system update that can be applied to current installations (versions 10.2.0 or later).

Product Information
Key features of this release include:

  • Virtual Appliance Deployment option - in addition to the traditional method of installing the product, you can now download a VMWare ESX-based virtual appliance that can be quickly and easily deployed on any VMWare ESX or ESXi server, reducing the roll out time for new ZENworks Primary Servers
  • Enhanced content replication options - adds greater flexibility in scheduling and throttling the replication of content between Primary servers and Satellites, allowing more control over bandwidth usage in geographically dispersed environments
  • Automated user-based license tracking - ZENworks Asset Management now uses inventory to determine when a user-licensed product is being consumed on a per-user or per-named user basis, enabling you to more easily maintain tighter control of your software budget
  • Better stepwise migration experience - ability to run ZENworks Asset Management 10 SP3 in a ZENworks 7 managed environment allowing for collection of inventory and asset management information before complete migration to a ZCM environment
  • New platform support - now supports Windows 2008 Server R2, SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 SP3, and Open Enterprise Server 2 SP2
  • Asset Inventory licensing - a new product called ZENworks Asset Inventory for Windows/Macintosh can now be purchased - this product allows you to purchase inventory-only capabilities for a reduced price.  This capability requires that either Asset Management or Configuration Management be present in the zone
