SUSE  is pleased to announce the availability of Geo Clustering for SUSE Linux Enterprise High Availability Extension 11 SP2 to all customers worldwide.

  

This is the initial version of geographical clustering support for the high availability extension.

  

Product Information
Geo Clustering for SUSE Linux Enterprise High Availability Extension enables you to deploy physical and virtual Linux clusters between data centers located anywhere in the world.

    By extending the capabilities of SUSE Linux Enterprise High Availability Extension across unlimited distances, it maximizes an organization's tolerance to regional catastrophic events ensuring they maintain business continuity, protect data integrity and minimize unplanned downtime for their mission-critical Linux workloads.

  

  Plus, Geo Clustering for SUSE Linux Enterprise High Availability Extension aligns with customers internal approval processes because it supports both automatic and manual failover.

  

  As a result, when disaster strikes data centers within a region, enterprises can meet their service-level agreements, while maintaining compliance with corporate policies and external regulations.

The Geo Clustering for SUSE Linux Enterprise High Availability Extension open source license minimizes the risk of vendor lock-in, and its adherence to open standards encourages interoperability with industry standard tools and technologies.

    Active subscriptions to SUSE Linux Enterprise Server, SUSE Linux Enterprise High Availability Extension, and the Geo Clustering for SUSE Linux High Availability Extension are required to receive technical support and maintenance for geographical clustered Linux servers.

  

  A Geo Clustering for SUSE Linux Enterprise High Availability Extension subscription provides maintenance and the same level of support for this product as the support level of the underlying SUSE Linux Enterprise Server subscription. For example, if you have a Priority subscription for SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for a given system, you will receive priority support for Geo Clustering for SUSE Linux Enterprise High Availability Extension for that system as well.

Availability
 Geo Clustering for SUSE Linux Enterprise High Availability Extension 11 SP2 is supported in virtual and physical environments on the AMD64, Intel64 and IBM System z hardware architectures supported by SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 SP2. 

  

  Clustering between physical and virtual instances is supported, all nodes must run on the same architecture.

  

Only available on x86_64 and later on System z.
