However, just throwing additional servers into the mix is an inefficient way to add capacity. Efficiency requires that loads be properly spread across resources, and that's where load balancing solutions prove their mettle. Load balancing reduces latency, improves throughput and eliminates bottlenecks. Coyote Point Systems takes the appliance approach to load balancing, offering four different appliances. These devices differ based on design traffic load and subfeatures, but they all share the same management console and basic feature set. Avira extends Managed Security Services portfolio to offer users security “in-the-cloud”

Tettnang/ Doetinchem, 2 March 2010 – German IT security provider Avira has acquired CleanPort B.V., bringing managed security services into the Avira portfolio offering. The new portfolio will be called, Avira Managed Security Services (AMSS). AMSS will provide online security services for all user segments; both consumer and corporate customers. The acquisition of the Dutch group CleanPort B.V./ ISP Services B.V./ NextIdentity B.V., has been executed on March 1, 2010. CleanPort B.V. specializes in anti-spam and anti-virus services, which are currently available to businesses of all sizes across Europe. Internet service provider ISP Services B.V. supplies data center infrastructures and NextIdentity B.V. provides the corresponding web development services. With the establishment of AMSS, Avira further expands its portfolio for all user segments and strengthens the company’s position in the international IT security market. CleanPort will form the essential component of the new offering. Following the complete integration of the corporate group, Avira also will launch a “Security as a Service” strategy during the course of this year. The first Avira branded offerings are expected to be launched in the 4th quarter of 2010. “By establishing Avira Managed Security Services, we open up an extended range of services based on tried-and-tested technology to our over 100 million users worldwide. Astaro først med plug and play VPN appliance

Det er ideen bag Astaro nyheden "RED", som lanceres på CeBIT 2010 samt på Open Source Days 2010 i København.
Detaljer om "RED" frigives først i den kommende uge, men allerede nu står det fast, at der bliver tale om en prisbillig VPN appliance som ikke kræver lokal konfiguration: Start appliancen op, og VPN forbindelsen tilbage til hovedkvarteret er etableret.

Verdens førende antispam løsning nu i Danmark

Tyske Eleven, som leverer antispam løsninger i enterprise klassen har indgået distributionsaftale med Liga, som skal distribuere Elevens produkter i Norden.

Løsningerne fra Eleven anvendes blandt andet af en lang række af internationale teleselskaber på grund af den høje kvalitet og skalerbarhed. I forbindelse med introduktionen på det nordiske marked er produkterne nu tilgængelige både som hostet antispam/antivirus løsning eller som lokal software løsning.

The ZENworks Migration Assurance 1.0 - Direct Services Enterprise Edition offers customers a bundle of services which will be used to better plan their migration strategy from ZENworks Desktop Management 6.5 and ZENworks Desktop Management 7 to ZENworks 10 Configuration Management, according to a well-documented set of methodologies and best practices. In addition, the purpose of the package is to ensure the customer receives up to date training on ZENworks 10 Configuration Management, as well as the support assurance during their migration process. The bundle of services includes:

Five (5) consecutive days of on-site consulting from Novell Consulting Services, including all required travel expenses. The engagement will include the following:

A business assessment
A technical assessment
A high-level design and migration plan, including all required documentation

Two (2) one-year subscriptions to OnDemand web-based training for the End User Computing library
One (1) ZENworks self-study kit
Two (2) four-hour blocks of Scheduled Standby support

The goal of this offering is to ensure that existing ZENworks customers migrate to ZENworks 10 Configuration Management in a controlled way, based on best practices, increasing the level of success of the migration and that the customer has all the necessary skills to manage the infrastructure going forward.

Changes to the Extended Pricing for SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for System z (Multi-IFL packages)
Back in November 2009 Novell announced the availability of an extension to the existing pricing for SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for IBM System z to all customers worldwide.

This meant that in addition of being able to buy subscriptions for single IFLs, Novell now also offered the opportunity to buy subscriptions for multiple IFLs in the form of Multi-IFL packages. Novell provided such Multi-IFL packages with subscriptions for 2 IFLs, 6 IFLs, 12 IFLs, 26 IFLs or 54 IFLs. Since November 2009 Novell has received a lot of feedback on the Multi-IFL packages from our partners. Based on this feedback Novell made the decision to maintain the price benefits for the end customers at ordering higher volumes, but to adopt the pricing itself. Instead of further providing Multi-IFL packages with hard-bundled 2 IFLs, 6 IFLs, 12 IFLs, 26 IFLs or 54 IFLs, Novell has made the decision to provide per IFL pricing for different volume ranges. The pricing changes will be done in a way that the original part numbers will be reused. This means the part numbers themselves will not change, but the product description and the price attached to the part numbers will be changed. Product Information
Novell customers will be able to order the Multi-IFL pricing either directly from Novell or via Novell Business Partners.
By ordering more IFLs, Novell's customers will receive a price benefit, which scales by volume.

Example:
Order for a 1 year subscription for a total of 12 IFLS:

previously:
12x Basic subscription for SLES for system z (1 IFL), 1year = $143,988.-

now:
12x SLES for System z, per IFL@volume 12-25 IFLs, Basic 1-Year = $107,988.- Licensing
Licensing follows the usual subscription model for SUSE Linux Enterprise Server.
Different subscriptions pricing is available for the following IFL ranges:
1 IFL, 2-5 IFLs, 6-11 IFLs, 12-25 IFLs, 26-53 IFLs and 54+ IFLs. All Multi-IFL pricing is available either as Basic subscription or as Basic subscription plus Standard or Priority Support services. All Multi-IFL pricing is available for either a 1 year, 3 year or a 5 year subscription period. Multi IFL pricing is available for IFLs running on all available types of IBM System z hardware, such as e.g. z9 and z10 systems based systems in their Business Class as well as their Enterprise Class flavors. All expiring subscriptions can be renewed by using the Multi-IFL pricing. All Multi-IFL pricing is entitled for Special Pricing Requests. In order to use the IFL pricing ranges of the Multi IFL pricing correctly, you need to take the amount of IFLs per order and pick the respective IFL pricing range, which provides the price per IFL for the respective order volume. For invoicing the correct price, you need to multiply the amount of IFLs ordered by the per IFL price of the respective IFL pricing range. Example: Order Amount: 17 IFLs
Total price: 17 IFLs x SLES for System z, per IFL@volume 12-25 IFLs, Basic 1-Year at $8,999.- = $152,983.-

Novell announces a correction to NPA 6446-6448 announcing the availability of Support Pack 3 for ZENworks 10 Configuration Management, ZENworks 10 Asset Management, and ZENworks 10 Patch Management to all customers worldwide. Changes were made to the First Customer Ship date, the licensing model for ZENworks Patch Management and the version number of ZENworks 10 Configuration Manager. This product release, known as ZENworks 10 Configuration Management SP3 (10.3), is available for download both for new product installations as well as a system update that can be applied to current installations (versions 10.2.0 or later). Virtual Appliance Deployment option - in addition to the traditional method of installing the product, you can now download a VMWare ESX-based virtual appliance that can be quickly and easily deployed on any VMWare ESX or ESXi server, reducing the roll out time for new ZENworks Primary Servers

Asset Inventory licensing - a new product called ZENworks Asset Inventory for Windows/Macintosh can now be purchased - this product allows you to purchase inventory-only capabilities for a reduced price. This capability requires that either Asset Management or Configuration Management be present in the zone
