The solution is called SmartSignatur Server 3, and it allows secure access to everything from the patient’s Pharmaceutical Overview to the central NemID, ordinary Windows and even iPads.
Employees no longer need passwords sent by text message, their personal NemID, special VPNs or other 2-factor methods to log on.
It’s an open architecture, which means it’s easy to adapt to the solutions you already have
Combine SmartSignatur with your entry keycard
The new SmartSignatur Server 3 is a solution that makes it easy to log onto various computers with a smart card (just like a credit card with a chip) that can also function as an entry keycard.
“A lot of employees already take an entry keycard with them wherever they go. Being able to use the same card to log on to their IT systems makes it simple for administrators to track the user’s behavior, both online and off. This can be important when it comes to the new EU Directive on Personal Data Protection,” says Bjarke Alling, the CEO of Liga, the company behind SmartSignatur Server 3.
Help for frustrated municipalities and regions
“In my dialogue with municipalities and regions, I find that people’s daily duties are becoming more and more complex, with various IT systems, reporting requirements and such. SmartSignatur is a move in the opposite direction. Secure logon solutions should make life easier for users, instead of more difficult,” says Liga head consultant Steffen Ørnemark.
SmartSignatur Server version 3 is a new total solution that solves the problem of secure 2-factor access to local and national IT systems in combination with the NemID employee signature.
employees don’t have to wait for days or weeks to get access to IT systems they need to do their jobs
Now in use at several municipalities
SmartSignatur already supplies this easy and secure log-on solution to several public sector customers, including the Central Denmark Region, Lyngby-Taarbæk Municipality, Faaborg-Midtfyn Municipality and Mariagerfjord Municipality.
In fact, if it weren’t for SmartSignatur, Chris Antonsen of Mariagerfjord Municipality might consider quitting his job, he grins. Antonsen is responsible for employee signatures in the municipality. “One thing is the administrative time I save,” Antonsen says. “But what I like best is that employees don’t have to wait for days or weeks to get access to IT systems they need to do their jobs.”

Recognized international technology
SmartSignatur Server is built on top of well-known and thoroughly tested software technology from suppliers like Micro Focus (formerly NetIQ), Cryptovision, Apple and Microsoft.
“Our components are hand-picked from existing solutions in the market – the very best we can find. It’s an open architecture, which means it’s easy to adapt to the solutions you already have, or might have in the future. That way you avoid a lot of headaches!” explains Steffen Ørnemark, whose own background is as an IT manager in the public sector, so he knows from experience what public sector employees need.
Facts about SmartSignatur
SmartSignatur Server offers a whole new web service that provides direct integration to specific professional systems, such as the Pharmaceutical Overview. It delivers a simple method for using digital signatures to create secure 2-factor user identification when it comes to system-to-system data communication.
SmartSignatur Server is integrated in real time with the organization’s existing user system and includes a completely automated lifecycle handling of the user – ordering, issuing, and de-activating a NemID employee signature.
With SmartSignatur Server, employees have full freedom to use their NemID employee signature offline, remotely, centrally or locally without having to think of anything but a simple PIN.
SmartSignatur Server also allows users to use their NemID employee signature as a valid digital signature on any compatible document, such as a PDF, MS Office, e-mails etc.
SmartSignatur Server is built according to open international software standards. That means it avoids the “vendor lock-in” often seen with proprietary solutions, and makes adjusting to future needs much easier.
